#EndSARS: Judicial Panel Orders Arrest Of Police Commissioner, Inspector The police officer had failed to honour several orders of the panel directing him to appear with the case file of the victim.       The Abuja judicial panel established to probe brutality and human rights abuses linked to the disbanded special anti-robbery squad (SARS) and other units of the police force has issued arrest warrants against two police officers who have several times shunned its summons and orders. One of those summoned police officers is the Commissioner of Police in charge of legal services at the Force Headquarters, Ogbeh Ochogwu.  The other is an inspector, Shunku Terhermber, attached to the Bwari Police Division in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. Osinachi’s case transferred to DPP – Police

Osinachi’s case transferred to DPP – Police The FCT Police Command has transferred the case of the late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, to the Department of Public Prosecutions. Recall that the ‘Ekwueme’ singer died on April 8 after allegedly enduring years of domestic violence from her husband Peter Nwachukwu. The late singer’s husband, Peter was arrested after the family reported the matter to the police. The case has since been at the State Criminal Investigation Department, as the police carried out autopsy on the late singer. Giving update, the FCT Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh said Osinachi’s case has been transferred to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice. “The case is no longer with us. “It is now with the DPP in the office of the Attorney-General,” Adeh told newsmen. The case was reportedly transferred after the release of autopsy report on Monday.

Ukraine war: Russia bombards cities as eastern offensive begins

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has said Russia has launched an assault to seize the eastern Donbas region. Russian and Ukrainian forces clashed on Tuesday along the eastern front line, after Mr Zelensky said the battle for the Donbas had begun. Ukraine's top security official, Oleksiy Danilov, said Russia was trying break through Ukrainian defensive positions throughout Ukraine's east. The offensive had been expected after Russia failed to seize Kyiv. After its push to overrun the capital stalled, Moscow announced its military would focus instead on eastern Ukraine where Russian-backed separatists have been fighting Ukrainian forces since 2014. Luhansk is one of the most fiercely contested regions, and on Tuesday its Governor Serhiy Hayday said it had come under attack from all sides. Ukraine: UK embassy in Kyiv to reopen next week, says PM

The British embassy in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv will reopen next week, Boris Johnson has announced. The prime minister also said there was a "realistic possibility" the Russian bombardment would continue until the end of next year. Mr Johnson added the UK was looking at sending tanks to support Poland as it supplies Ukraine with heavy weaponry. The prime minister made the embassy announcement at a news conference in Delhi, where he has been holding talks with Indian leader Narendra Modi. It comes after Russia withdrew forces from around Kyiv when it failed to seize the capital, and launched an assault on the eastern Donbas region. Mr Johnson visited Kyiv earlier this month to meet President Volodymyr Zelensky, following a pledge to give £100m worth of weapons to Ukraine. A group of   House Republicans has asked Twitter’s board of directors to preserve all correspondence related to Elon Musk’s proposed takeover,   according to a letter released Friday. The request from the minority party in Congress lacks the legal heft of subpoena power to force Twitter to respond, as no Democrats joined the 18 members of the House Judiciary Committee who signed the letter. The situation could change in January 2023 if Republicans win control of the House in the midterm elections, raising the possibility that they could pursue an inquiry. “Decisions regarding Twitter’s future governance will undoubtedly be consequential for public discourse in the United States,” according to the letter addressed to Twitter Chair Bret Taylor and signed by Rep. Deji Adeyanju, an Abuja-based activist lawyer, said the APC would encourage looting and corruption with the Presidential ticket costing N100 million. The party had pegged its nomination forms at N100M for the president, Senate at N20 million and governorship forms at N50 million.
