AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER Stills Take Us Back To Pandora...And Into The Planet's Gorgeous Oceans

AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER Stills Take Us Back To Pandora...And Into The Planet's Gorgeous Oceans

Some stills from Avatar: The Way of Water have surfaced, and they showcase the incredible work filmmaker James Cameron has put into recreating Pandora more than a decade after the first movie's release.

The first footage from Avatar: The Way of Water was shown to CinemaCon attendees earlier this week, while it was later confirmed that the movie's trailer will play in front of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The plan is to then release it online a week later, but it appears some screenshots have leaked online courtesy of Chinese box office expert @gavinfeng97.

As you might expect, we finally get to see the Avatar sequel's breathtaking water setting, while an older Jake, and a character we're assuming is his daughter, also receive the spotlight here.

That first movie smashed box office records back in 2009, and filmmaker James Cameron has kept us waiting more than a decade for this sequel. Of course, in that time, he's helped create a real-life Pandora for Disney World and pushed technology to a point where he can tell several of these stories over the next decade. Will The Way of Water similarly break records? That remains to be seen.

AVATAR 2 Trailer Expected To Debut In Front Of DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS
Hopefully, more from this one will be revealed soon, but that trailer really can't get here fast enough.

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

Avatar: The Way of Water arrives in theaters worldwide on December 16.
